an update of sorts

gonna fill you in here. I don’t promise that this will make any sense. Some of you already know parts or all of this, for others, it’ll be new information.

I went into labor at 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday. I still am in labor. Yeah, it stinks.

Went to the doctor, and then the hospital Wednesday, they sent me home. The phrase is apparently “real contractions, false labor”, which is a misnomer. What that means is that the contractions aren’t causing a lot of dilation.

Back to the doctor today, and there is a little progress, but boychild’s head is still bouncing around (a true Froebe).

If nothing changes, I go see the doctor again tomorrow morning.

Doctor thinks this baby will be born tomorrow sometime.

I told him (the doc) that I have an appointment scheduled with him on Tuesday, should I just go home and if nothing changes keep that one? He laughed and said that I won’t be at that appointment. This baby will be here before then.

We shall see.

So, there you have it.

Day 4 of labor, and no baby. I’m so grounding this child randomly at some point!

Happy Birthday Little Girl

Happy Birthday Miriam!

366 days ago, you came into our lives (2008 was a leap year!), and made me happier than I knew it was possible to be.

Happy birthday to my little girl. May you grow and be happy.

home and grateful

We are home, and glad to be so.  It’s a lot of fun to visit family and friends, but it is also very, very nice to be home.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and are so far past tired that we are approaching it from the other side (whatever that means).

Traffic was decent, but not insane.  The weather was fairly cooperative for the drive home, and there is nowhere near the 10+ inches of snow on the ground that we were hearing about this morning.  In fact, I don’t think there is any at the moment.  Tomorrow is another matter though.

We are tired.  Did I mention that?

Oh, and I think that if we try to put Miriam in the car seat again, she will run away.  Seriously.

Love and hugs to all.  Hope I didn’t miss anything too important over the last week.  I’ll try to get caught up, but it may take a while.  For now, I’m off to bed.

the worst

The worst part of being pregnant, worse than morning sickness, worse than waddling, worse than the inability to be comfortable in the 9th month because you are the size of a U-boat, is having a cold.

Because when you have a cold, you have to cough.  And when you cough, you throw up, which makes everything worse.  And you can’t even take the good meds for your cold.

/glares at DH who took Nyquil last night and is all full of joi de vie this morning.

am I a bad mom? (joking)

I set Miriam down on the floor.  I then put a handful of cheerios down in front of her.  It’s amazing how many cheerios she’ll eat this way.

Then, when she’s done:

Okay, so that isn’t an after cheerios photo, that is an after playtime photo, but replace the toys with about 15 uneaten cheerios, and you have an idea of what it looks like around here.

German Fest!

Yesterday we went to German Fest in Lincoln Square to meet up with some friends and enjoy what may be one of the last nice nice weekends.

We had a great time!  The brats were great, fresh yummy saurkraut, and Miriam loved the German Potato Salad.  We didn’t have any beer, I know, heresy, but I can’t these days and Jason was being supportive.

Baby says \"BRAINZZZ\"

He did however have a blue raspberry slushie, which certainly wins the Miriam Seal of Approval.

just getting through

I haven’t fallen off the face of the Earth.  Honest.  This pregnancy is just a lot harder than the last one.

Every day, I plan to knit.  I plan to blog.  I plan to clean my house.

Yeah.

Miriam is teething.  I’m pregnant.  I was sick.

I’m just getting through the days.

Now that’s a face

Like I said, my day keeps getting better

Miriam is fussy, and wanting attention, so I was letting her bang away on my computer.  I set it to Ravelry Radar, which constantly reloads new posts, and she thinks her banging away changes the images on the screen.  I get to read the new posts, best of all worlds, rightt?

Well, I didn’t realize that she pulled the power cable out of the computer.  The one that plugs into the wall outlet and charges the computer.

The next sound I heard was her screaming, then a pause, and cries like I’ve never heard before.  I look down and discover that she had the sopping wet cable in her hand.

Poor thing.

She’s fine.  Smiling and chattering away now.

It was her first electrical shock, but with her last name, it certainly won’t be her last.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone is having as wonderful a day as we are!

\"Independance Day is tasty!\"

Sometimes, you just have to declare your independence by giving a baby a lollipop.
