Not framed, but knitting!

Yesterday, after my doctor’s appointment, Mom and I went over to the house to watch the framing.

Due to all the thunderstorms in the area, they hadn’t started framing yet
– but all the wood was there!  In addition to what you can see behind me,
there is another whole flatbed truck off to the side.

It takes a lot of timber to build a house.  :)

The doctor said everything was good, and it turns out I can actually take an
allergy medicine for when the allergies get to be too much.

In even better news, he sees no reason why I can’t have some occasional sushi.

In the U.S., all fish servedraw must be frozen at such a cold temp. and held
therelong enough to kill any potential parasites.  The real concern is mercury,
so as long as I keep it to an occasional treat, it’s okay.

The FDA warning against pregnant women having raw seafood has more to due
with things like oysters and clams, bivalves, which are FAR more likely to harbor
nastyness like parasites than an occasional piece of sushi.

After happy dancing my way out of the doctor’s office, mom and I headed to our
favorite sushi restaurant for lunch.  Oh so happy.

In even better news, at least for most of my readers here, I really have been knitting!  Honest!  You don’t believe me?  How about some photographic proof!

booties in progress See?  Knitting.  Real, actual knitting.  Progress has been made.  We have one pair of booties in Froebe Fibers Caribbean Breeze, and one partial bootie in Froebe Fibers Watermelon Bombe

Okay, okay.  We have one completed bootie, one bootie with the knitting done that still needs to be sewn up, and one bootie ready to begin the toe.

It’s still progress, right?

Why do I hear giggling out there?  You think that is all I have done?

Oh yea of little faith!

blanket Baby blanket ahoy hoy!  From "Natural Knits for Babies and Moms", out of Sirdar Denim, we have nearly 1/2 of a baby blanket.

This is my first time using Denim, and I can finally understand what Mason Dixon Knitting have been talking about all this time.  This yarn is fantastic!

It knits up so fast (no, I don’t think knitting on size 10 U.S. needles has anything to do with that — really!).

Most of knitting is getting accomplished in the waiting room at the doctor’s office.  Since I try to get an early morning appointment, and the office I go to is pretty quick, I’m not getting all that much knitting done.

The problem is that every time I think about picking up my knitting at home, I think I should be sorting and/or packing for the move instead.  I don’t want to be doing that though, because frankly, that is no fun at all.  So, I wind up procrastinating everything away and get nearly nothing done at all.

I’m not in a funk, I just feel unproductive because I have so much to do and I feel like I should do the unpleasant things first, but I never seem to get around to them.

I should just buckle down and get something done.  After lunch.  ;)

The house construction — it continues!  The baby growing — also continues!  The sleep — has gone missing!  (but that’s okay).

As you can see, the basement walls are in.  I’m not 100% sure of what all they have to do to build a house, but it is very cool just the same.  I think I’m standing where the driveway is going to be, and the black pit you see to my right is the foundation for the garage.  Behind me, where the "window" is, will be our unfinished 1/2 basement.

We met one of our neighbors yesterday.  His name is Ata, and he is from Jordan.  He seems like a really nice guy, and very happy to have met us.

In case I didn’t make it clear, this picture was taken yesterday, July 8th around noon.  It was well above 90 degrees.

I’m so happy!

Today, Mom and I are heading out to Ikea to scope out some baby’s room furniture and stuff.

Oh, and I’m back to knitting.  I have a pair of baby booties finishes, and 1/3 of a blanket done.  Pictures soonish.  :)

House construction!

Hi all!

house construction

June 30th photo here.  You can see that I’m starting to show, and that house construction has begun!  The excavation was completed, and the footings in place and curing.

We are going back out to the house today, and I’ll have another picture for you shortly.

Oh, if you want to see more pictures, check out Jason’s "building the house" picture set over at flickr.
