Last Friday, Yarn Harlot Day II, for those of you keeping score, saw the beginning of the South Suburban Stitch n Bitch Windmill Beret Knitalong. Wow, that is quite the name. Well, some of us got further than others.
See the green and burgundy one at the very top, the little one? That’s mine! It’s not so bad though, I had already hit the “fun” when we took the photo.
It is a pain the @$$ knit, but I’m having a really good time with it just the same. I know I’ve always said knitting is just two stitches, knit and purl. Well, I was wrong. This one has a new stitch, BRK, or “bark” as we all called it, which had us barking at the table!
I think we may have scared the staff at Panera. They tried to molify the scary knitters with brownies. It worked.
So, stay tuned for next week’s picture! We’ll get these knit, hopefully before Hanukah.

Melon Ball is available. Really.
Our website doesn’t seem to recognize this though.
I’m working on the issue with our service provider.
In the meantime, if you wish to order Melon Ball yarn, please select any other colorway and add it to your cart. Then in the comments section, please let us know that you wish to replace the selected yarn with Melon Ball.
We’ll be happy to make that change.
Thanks.

It’s almost 11 a.m. and breakfast is still hanging out on my list. I think it may just get bumped completely in favor of a larger lunch at this rate. See? Busy.
Even with days like this, I still have time to knit and block.
I also managed to start a new project. Victorian Lace Today is the best book! I’m really enjoying it. I was planing to make A Curved Shawl, and I even bought a ball of Jade Sapphire Lacey Lamb for it. But I guess plans have changed, because I have 68 rows of Shoulder Shawl in Syrian Pattern (page 130 if you are interested) on my needles now. I’m using size 3′s, because 7′s in Lacey Lamb would have been just about the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.

I know it looks bad now, but like any lace project, it will look 1000 times better after the border is on and it is blocked.
Jason keeps cracking jokes about it being my new bikini. As it grows to shawl-like-proportions, I’m assuming the jokes will cease.

Froebe Fibers has been and will continue to be a secure website for purchases.
Our store is hosted through Yahoo, and their security is top notch.
The actual store resides at http://www.k2p2.net To make things easier for our customers, we also set up http://www.froebe-fibers.com to redirect to the store.
There was a problem in how we set up the redirect, and even though the store was secure, web browsers were being tricked into thinking that it wasn’t. (My tech guru can explain this better if you want, but it just gives me a headache).
So, we made a very minor change in how the redirect functions, so now when you go to http://www.froebe-fibers.com you will see that it is redirecting you to http://www.k2p2.net/store. This means that the address bar will show the real address, and everyone can see for certain that we are secure.
Sorry for any misunderstandings.
Again, we are and always have been secure. I gummed up appearances trying to make it all pretty. Lesson learned.

How much better can a cold, snowy, April day get? I have a finished sock, and another half done. I’m home safe and sound and warm, and there is a pot of stew on the stove.
A spiffy little clownish sock, knit from Socks That Rock, and how they rock. You wouldn’t believe how fast these knit up. If I didn’t have the flu, they’d both be done.
Instead I am 90% recovered, and have a sock and a half.

Okay, so maybe not a full half, but close enough. I’m already turning the heel. Not bad for starting the second sock last night.
I also have yummy stew on the stove.

From Merry Gentlemen’s recipe, I have Irish(ish) stew. If she were making it, the stew would be full Irish, but as me, I can’t claim to make anything full Irish. Especially when I modify the recipe by doubling the onions, tripling the garlic, and adding celery seed. I also cut out the parsley completely because mine went bad. Otherwise I followed her recipe exactly.
Next week we are making "final" decisions on the house. I get to decide on carpeting, and tile, and all that jazz. I think I may be in over my head. Especially with company in from out of the country. Oh, and did I mention that I have a dentist’s appointment on Monday?
It’s been probably 10 years since I last saw a dentist. Should I be worried?
